(a) It is the intention of the City Administration and City Council to begin a memorial tree program, which will be known as the "City of Maple Heights Tree Memorial Donation Program."
(b) Through this Program, all persons, individuals, civic associations and businesses may purchase a tree from the City which will then be planted on City park property in a special area designated for the memorial trees.
(c) The purpose of the purchase of these memorial trees may be the creation of a living memorial, a true memorial or the commemoration of an event or organization, such as a memorial to an outstanding member of the community, family or organization; a memorial to a deceased individual; or commemoration of a wedding, birthday, anniversary, retirement, business founding or return from the Armed Services.
(d) Interested individuals and organizations will purchase the trees from the City at prices authorized by the Director of Community Programs, who will then supervise the location, planting and perpetual care of the trees.
(e) Upon the planting of a memorial tree, a permanent record of the type of tree, its location, the memorial purpose, and the purchaser of said tree, will be kept at City Hall.
(f) The City of Maple Heights Tree Memorial Donation Program is hereby created with the purposes as stated above, to be administered under the direction of the Director of Community Programs, who is hereby further authorized to create rules and regulations for the administration of said Program.
