866.01 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)   "Private investigation" means the conducting or making, for hire, of any investigation for the purpose of obtaining evidence or testimony to be used before investigating committees, boards of award or arbitration or in the trial of civil or criminal cases, or for the purpose of obtaining information with reference to any of the following matters:
      (1)   Crimes or wrongs done Or threatened;
      (2)   The identity, habits, conduct, movements, whereabouts, affiliations, transactions, reputation, credibility, character or location of any person;
      (3)   The cause of or responsibility for any libel or slander;
      (4)   The location or recovery of lost or stolen property;
      (5)   The cause or origin of or responsibility for fires, accidents or injuries to real or personal property or strikes and labor difficulties.
   (b)   "Private investigator" means any person who engages in private investigation for hire, whether self-employed or employed by a private investigation agency.
   (c)   "Private investigation agency" means a person employing, in the private investigation business, one or more private investigators.
   (d)   "Security guard" means any person, in uniform or otherwise, who, for hire or reward, guards or protects any structure, premises, property or person by patrolling on foot or in any vehicle upon any street or other public way or public place in the City. The term includes any person who, for fire or reward, is employed to guard, protect or maintain peace and order in or about any structure, premises or property which is operated, maintained or conducted as a dance hall, theater or other place of amusement, recreation or entertainment frequented by the public, including liquor establishments licensed under State statutes.
   (e)   "Security guard agency" means any person who or which employs, furnishes or provides the service of a security guard.
