672.13 POSSESSION AND USE OF WEAPONS GENERALLY; RESPONSIBILITY OF PARENTS.
   (a)   No person shall use any sling shot, air rifle, bow and arrow, blow gun or other contrivance for throwing stones, pebbles, spears, arrows or other missiles, and no parent or guardian of a minor under the age of seventeen years shall permit or allow such minor to violate this section. However, the Mayor, or the Chief of Police in the Mayor's absence, may issue a permit for demonstrations of skill if conducted under the supervision of organizations approved by them.
   Any police officer who finds any minor violating this section is hereby authorized to take possession of any weapon prescribed herein and to retain the same until such time as the parent or guardian of such minor makes application therefor to the Chief of Police.

   (b)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and shall be subject to the penalty provided in Section 698.02.
