SECTION 18.  APPOINTIVE OFFICERS GENERALLY.
   All appointive officers and employees shall be appointed by the Mayor, or by his order, in accordance with the state law, but such appointments by the Mayor, or by his order, shall be subject to the approval of the Council.
   There shall be appointed the following officers and employees:
   (a)   A City Clerk;
   (b)   A Chief of Police and members of the police force,
   (c)   A City Solicitor,
   (d)   A City Treasurer,
   (e)   A Street Superintendent,
   (f)   A Water Superintendent, and
   (g)   Such other employees as may be necessary and provided for by ordinance.
   Each of said officers shall be subject to removal at any time for cause by the Mayor, with the consent of the Council or at the Council’s order.
   The duties shall be prescribed by the Council as herein provided.  One person may be appointed to and discharge the duties of more than one of said offices.
