§ 90.42 RABIES PREVENTION.
   Any person who shall have in his or her possession a dog that has contracted rabies, has been exposed to the same, is suspected of having rabies, or has bitten any person, shall, upon the demand of the Police Department, surrender such dog to the Police Department or Health Department, to be held for observation and treatment as hereinafter required. It shall be the duty of every person owning or harboring a dog that has been attacked or bitten by another dog or other animal showing the symptoms of rabies, to immediately notify the Police Department or Health Department that such person has such dog or other such animal in his or her possession. Whenever a dog is brought to the pound after having bitten a person, the Police Department may, if deemed necessary and advisable, after holding such a dog for a sufficient length of time to meet the requirements of the Health Department for investigation, cause such dog to be destroyed.
