(A) The Police Department shall notify by registered mail the last known registered owner of any vehicle towed in accordance with this subchapter within ten business days of their identification after searching State Police records in accordance with ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, § 4-205. If after ten business days the identity of the owner is still unknown, the Police Department shall notify the owner within two business days of identification.
(B) If the Police Department is unable to identify the owner of any vehicle towed in accordance with this subchapter, the Police Department shall authorize the disposal of the vehicle as required by ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, §§ 4-208 and 4-209.
