§ 92.05 PRIVATE STREET NAMES.
The naming of a private street shall be required under the following conditions.
   (A)   Private lanes with three or more principal structures and/or platted lots along them shall be named and these principal structures and/or platted lots shall be addressed off that private lane in accordance with the countywide addressing system.
   (B)   A private street that serves only one or two principal structure(s) and/or platted lot(s) is considered to be a driveway for the purposes of this chapter. No street name shall be assigned nor any street sign erected by the county. An unofficial name of any private driveway shall not be recognized by the county and shall not be used as part of an address. Address(es) of the principal structure(s) and/or platted lot(s) on the private driveway shall consist of the name of the street from which the driveway departs and the appropriate structure number(s) as determined by the countywide addressing system described in this chapter. When the driveway serves a second principal structure or platted lot, the next odd or even number, as appropriate, shall be assigned to the second structure or lot. If additional principal structures are built and/or additional lots are platted along a private driveway, resulting in three or more principal structures and/or platted lots, the ETSB shall assign a name to the driveway, all principal structures and/or platted lots shall be assigned or reassigned an address number off that named private driveway, and a street sign shall be erected in accordance with this chapter at the intersection of the private driveway with the public street.
   (C)   When the ETSB requires the naming of a previously unnamed private street, residents who are property owners on the subject street may, within 30 days of notification by the ETSB that the naming is required, provide to the ETSB a petition bearing the approving signatures of at least 60% of the property owners and containing up to three street name choices that are acceptable to the petitioners. The street names, including spaces between words, shall not be more than 18 spaces in length, prefix and suffix excluded. The names shall not include numerical reference or numerical, alphabetic, or alphanumeric sequences. If at least 60% of the property owners do not agree with a suggested name, or the ETSB does not approve any of the suggested names, the ETSB shall have the authority to assign a name to the private street.
