1.17.01: DEFINITIONS:
For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings ascribed to them by this section:
ADMINISTRATOR: A person duly qualified and legally appointed or otherwise responsible for the management and settlement of the estate of an intestate, or of a testator who has no executor, performed under the supervision of a court, and usually involving:
   A.   Collection of the decedent's assets;
   B.   Payment of debts and claims against the estate;
   C.   Payment of estate taxes; and
   D.   Distribution of the remainder of the estate among those entitled thereto.
BOARD: The Lyon County board of commissioners.
INTESTATE: Without making a will. A person is said to die intestate when he or she dies without making a will, or dies without leaving anything to testify what his or her wishes were with respect to the disposal of his or her property after his or her death.
PUBLIC ADMINISTRATOR: The person appointed or contracted to carry out the duties and responsibilities set forth in Chapter 253 of the Nevada Revised Statutes.
WARD: A person who, for defect of age, understanding or self- control, is considered incapable of administering his or her own affairs. (Ord. 586, 4-7-2016; amd. Ord. 609, 10-17-2019)
