It shall be unlawful to discharge within the city limits firearm or air-gun, BB gun or any toy gun, projecting lead or missiles or shooting an arrow utilizing a bow or other means, except in a regularly established shooting gallery. This section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the city from discharging a firearm in the performance of his or her duty, nor any citizen from discharging a firearm when lawfully defending person or property.
