(a) Urban Forest - All trees, shrubs and woody vegetation on public property within the Municipality, including public rights-of-way, dedicated easements, street medians, public parks, and lands owned by the City of Louisville.
(b) Tree - Any self-supporting woody plant usually having one main trunk which produces a more or less distinct and elevated head with many branches and a potential caliper or diameter at breast height of two inches or more.
(c) Caliper - For the purposes of this chapter, the caliper, or diameter, of a tree shall be measured at four and one-half feet above ground level, commonly known as diameter at breast height.
(d) Street Trees - Trees that abut a street or public place for which the planting site and trunk are located within a public right-of-way.
(e) Park Trees - All trees located within public parks or on publicly owned properties including undeveloped rights-of-way, easements dedicated to the City and developed or undeveloped properties owned by the City of Louisville.
(f) Private Trees - Trees located on private property excluding trees within easements dedicated to the City.
(g) Tree Lawn - That portion of a property or right-of-way which lies between the edge of the public right-of-way and the paved street.
(h) Municipality - The City of Louisville.
(i) Arborist - A person with expertise and certification in the care and maintenance of trees.
(j) Utility - Any water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas, electric, or telecommunication pipe, conduit, fiber, cable, or conduit.
