157.14 NEPOTISM.
The City of Louisville seeks to foster an environment where people are treated with respect and trust. The employment of close relatives may be problematic because such situations can create a conflict of interest or an appearance of favoritism, and increased potential for a hostile work environment. Because of these concerns the City is sensitive to circumstances in which “close relatives” of employees have influence over one another.
It shall be the policy of the City that no person shall be appointed to any position if that person is a “close relative” to any member of the City Council, the City Manager, or any other full-time or permanent part-time employee of the City.
For the purposes of this section, “close relative” shall be defined as a parent or step-parent, sibling or step-sibling, spouse, adopted or foster child, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter-in- law, son-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, or first cousin.
