(a) There are hereby created the positions of Dispatcher and Dispatcher Clerk, whose duties and hours shall be as directed by the Chief of Police.

(b) If a dispatcher performs the duties of a patrolman, such dispatcher shall be paid patrolman wages for those number of hours worked as a patrolman during any payroll period. The number of hours for which a dispatcher shall be paid as a patrolman shall be determined by the Chief of Police. This subsection shall be effective January 1, 1988.

(c) The Senior Dispatcher-Clerk shall be in charge of all other dispatchers in the Department and shall have such other duties as may be assigned by the Chief of Police.
