(a) Water pipe shall be four inches in diameter, minimum, and preferably six inches in diameter, unless the area served is very small and there is no possibility of future extension. In this case the minimum line size will be determined by the Engineer.
(b) Water lines are to be looped to form a closed network where possible.
(c) Future extensions shall be provided for in the design by installation of crosses or other suitable fittings with caps or plugs as required.
(d) Valves shall be placed in at least two lines at intersections and shall not be spaced more than 1,000 feet apart on a straight run of pipe to allow for repair of the line with a minimum disturbance to consumers.
(e) Hydrants shall be placed at all street intersections and a maximum of 500 feet apart in normal residential areas. In more densely populated areas, the distance between hydrants shall be determined by the Engineer. A watch valve shall be provided at each hydrant. (Ord. 871. Passed 2-3-64.)
