1014.02 CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR SIDEWALKS.
   (a)    Unless otherwise permitted by any other action of Council, ordinance or regulation of the Village of Loudonville, all sidewalks constructed within the Village of Loudonville, whether new or for replacement purposes, shall be constructed of concrete material pursuant to the specifications adopted by this section.
   (b)    The specifications for the construction of all sidewalks within the Village of Loudonville, shall be as follows:
      (1)    The surface of the concrete walk shall be struck off to a true surface and given a light broom finish just prior to the final setting of the concrete. The surface of the walk shall be cut or scored one inch deep at approximately five foot intervals. The edges of the walk shall be finished with an edging tool. The cement should be reinforced with either #10 wire mesh or rebar. All walks in driveways and driveway aprons shall be at least six inches thick and reinforced with rebar. A curing agent should be applied on the same day as the final setting of the concrete. Whenever possible, a six (6) or six and one-half(6-1/2) sack lime stone concrete mix should be used.
      (2)    Rebar shall be ½ inch in diameter or larger and placed at two foot intervals.
       (3)    Replacement walks shall match existing walk widths. New walks in residential areas shall be four feet in width. All walks shall be sloped one inch from side to side to
accommodate water runoff. They also shall be installed above grade so water, ice or other materials do not accumulate on the surface of the walk. Expansion joints shall be placed wherever the walk meets a driveway or curb.
       (4)    Any time a sidewalk intersecting a street, or meeting a curb at a street intersection and/or crosswalk, is to be installed, constructed or replaced, a curb ramp constructed in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines shall be installed.
      (5)    No concrete shall be installed on frozen subgrade, and adequate precautions shall be taken to protect the concrete from freezing. Adequate lights, signs, warning, and barricades shall be furnished and maintained to protect the work and the public.
   (c)    Before any demolition or construction of a sidewalk is begun within the Village of Loudonville, a building permit shall be obtained pursuant to Section 1420.02 of the Codified ordinances of the Village of Loudonville.
