1. Strength of the lateral-force resisting system shall meet or exceed 75% of the seismic base shear specified in "The Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure" of the current Los Angeles Building Code. Elements not designated to be part of the lateral-force resisting system shall be adequate for gravity load effects and seismic displacement due to the full (100%) of the design story drift specified in the current Los Angeles Building Code seismic provisions.
2. Meet or exceed the requirements specified for "Basic Performance Objective for Existing Buildings" of ASCE 41, using a Tier 3 procedure and the two level performance objective for existing buildings (BPOE) in Table 2-1 of ASCE 41 for the applicable risk category, and using ground motions and procedures established by the Department. 3. Pursuant to LAMC Subdivision 91.104.2.6, other methods approved by the Department deemed to be equivalent to the standards set forth in Items 1 and 2 above.
