CREATION OF CITY LANDLORD-TENANT MEDIATION BOARD

Sec. 8.180. Designation of the City Board.
   There is hereby created and established a board to be known as the “City of Los Angeles Landlord-Tenant Mediation Board,” herein referred to as “the City Board.

Sec. 8.181. Composition of the City Board.
 
   The City Board shall consist of fifteen members, one from each of the Council districts; five shall be tenants of dwellings or dwelling units within the City, five shall be landlords of dwellings or dwelling units within the City, and five shall be residents of the City who are neither landlords nor tenants. Each Council member shall submit to the Mayor the names of a landlord, tenant, and a person who is neither a landlord or a tenant. The Mayor shall select one name from each Council list to serve on the City Board.
 
   The term of office for each member of the City Board shall be two years. Any vacancy shall be filled by the Mayor for the unexpired portion of a term. The Mayor shall designate one of the members of the Board as the first chairperson. Successor chairpersons shall be chosen by a majority vote of all the members of the City Board.
