No person shall operate either a motor vehicle or combination of vehicles of any type subject to registration pursuant to M.S. Ch. 168, as it may be amended from time to time, at any time or under condition of grade, load, acceleration or deceleration in such a manner as to cause the exhaust to emit excessive or unusual noise or to produce a sharp popping or crackling sound.
