It is the purpose of this chapter to promote the public health, safety and general welfare by providing for the regulation of planned unit developments. It is the intent of these regulations to provide maximum opportunity for orderly large-scale developments that benefit the community as a whole by offering a greater choice of living environments, a wider range of development plans featuring a more complementary blending of land uses, which shall include community facilities and open space, and a more unified approach with respect to the mixture of uses and their adaption to topographical and geological features, recreation opportunities and transportation needs.
