All architectural projections shall be in accordance with the following provisions:
(A) Chimneys, flues, sills, pilasters, belt courses, cornices, eaves, gutters, bay windows, awnings, and other similar ornamental architectural features may project into any required yard a maximum of three feet.
(B) Unroofed porches, paved patios or terraces, decks, steps and similar structures may extend from the first floor of a dwelling or from the ground elevation into a required front yard by not more than ten feet. Roofed structures such as porches, canopied balconies, decks, platforms, carports, and similar structures shall be considered as part of the dwelling to which attached and shall not project into any required yard. In the event a person desires to roof a porch, deck, steps, or similar structures, the Board of Zoning Appeals shall refuse the request if the unroofed addition took place during the preceding five years. Applicants shall consider this provision when making original application for a zoning permit so that future anticipated roofed additions can comply with the setback requirements of this chapter.
(C) Open or lattice enclosed fire escapes, outside stairways, balconies, and similar structures may be permitted into a required rear or side yard a maximum of three feet when so placed as to not obstruct light or ventilation.
