§ 33.24 VOLUNTARY SERVICES; POLICE DUTIES.
   (A)   All services performed by the reserve police force shall be on a voluntary basis. All services will be performed within the city unless otherwise assigned by the chief of police. Reserve officers shall serve without pay except that the safety director may approve actual expenses incurred if appropriations are adequate. Members of the police reserve force are not eligible for membership in the police and fireman's pension fund under R.C. §§ 742.01 through 742.52.
   (B)   Reserve officers shall be deemed to be employees of the city when performing police duties under the direction of the chief of police. Such reserve police shall be covered by workmen's compensation in accordance with the Industrial Commission of Ohio Rules and Regulations pertaining to the volunteer policemen and firemen of public employers.
   (C)   Reserve officers are allowed to fill in when full-time officers are not available to cover a shift or for overtime situations such as prisoner transport. The reserve officer force shall be compensated at the rate of patrolmen step 1.
   (D)   Reserve officers cannot work more than 28 hours per week.
   (E)   Contingent dispatchers are allowed to fill in when full- time and part-time dispatchers are not available to cover a shift. Contingent dispatchers shall be compensated at the rate of part- time dispatchers. Contingent dispatchers cannot work more than 28 hours per week.
