Sec. 5.1. Appointment; Qualifications; Terms; Compensation.

The City Council shall appoint a City Attorney who shall be an attorney at law licensed to engage in the practice of law in North Carolina and who need not be a resident of the city during his tenure. The City Attorney shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council and shall receive such compensation as the Council shall determine.
