(a) Training and education. An employee of the Police Department expending time over and above his or her normal work day, for training and educational purposes, who accrues more than 40 hours in that work week, may be reimbursed through compensatory time for this excess time. The rate of reimbursement shall be one and one-half times their normal hourly rates for time accrued and shall be used at a time and date approved by the Chief of Police which use must occur by December 15 of the year in which it was accrued. Compensatory time not used by December 15 will be paid out by December 30.
(b) Normal duties. An employee of the Police Department expending time over and above his or her normal work day, for normal working purposes, who accrues more than 40 hours in that work week, may be reimbursed through compensatory time for this excess time, at a rate of one and one-half times for each excess hour so accrued, at a time and date approved by the Chief of Police, subject to the following.
(1) A minimum seven-day notice shall be required in order to take a compensatory day(s).
(2) No overtime shall be paid to cover the schedule of officers requesting compensatory time.
(3) An employee shall be entitled to accumulate a maximum 120 hours of compensatory time.
