(a) The Village Solicitor is hereby authorized and directed to obtain the services of a duly licensed attorney to assist with the legal duties of the municipality where he or she may deem it necessary to protect the interests of the municipality, both to defend and to prosecute cases for and on behalf of the municipality.
(b) Such services shall be paid for out of the current funds appropriated therefore in the budget of the municipality.
