(A) Generally. In an effort to address the issue of fair housing the city has established a “housing discrimination referral process”. The purpose for the housing discrimination referral process is to promote the issue of fair housing, as well as to establish a policy for handling housing related complaints. All housing discrimination complaints brought to attention of the City Manager will be handled in the following manner.
(B) Housing discrimination referral policy.
1. The city will promote equal housing opportunities by providing information on fair housing laws through two informational brochures published by the State Department of Fair Housing and Employment. The two brochures are A Guide For Complainants and Housing Rights and will be made available to all complainants as well as to anyone else who requests a copy.
2. All complaints must be submitted in writing and addressed to the City Manager, City of Livingston, 1416 C Street, Livingston, CA 95334. The City Manager’s office shall refer all complaints to the State Department of Fair Housing and Employment - Fresno office. In addition, the City Manager’s office shall keep a record of all housing related discrimination complaints on file. The file shall contain the complainant’s name, address, phone number and nature of the complaint.
