The Mayor, before entering upon the duties of the office, shall take the oath of office prescribed by law, and shall execute a bond to the city in the penal sum of $3,000 with the sureties as shall be approved by the City Council, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of the office. He or she shall keep his or her office at the place in the city as may be provided by the City Council, and he or she shall attend there for the transaction of the business of the office.
