§ 96.105 SIGNALING DEVICES; FIRE EXTINGUISHERS.
   (A)   It is unlawful to operate a boat or craft by means of any motor or engine without being equipped with a mouth-, hand-, or power-operated whistle, horn, or other appliance capable of producing a blast of 2 seconds or more duration and audible for at least 1/2 mile. It shall be unlawful for any person to use a motor-driven boat or craft equipped with a siren or to use any red or blue flashing light, except duly designated patrol boats.
   (B)   It is unlawful to operate any motor-driven boat or craft without at least 1 U.S. Coast Guard-approved fire extinguisher, so placed as to be readily accessible and in the condition as to be ready for immediate and effective use.
