§ 96.017 DISTINCT FROM POLICE.
   (A)   The City Lake Marshal, when functioning as Lake Marshal, and the Deputy Lake Marshals shall not be considered to be members of the regular Police Department of the city unless so designated by appointment by the Chief of Police and shall not function on a full-time basis. Uniforms and identification symbols or badges of the Lake Marshal and Deputy Lake Marshals shall be different and distinct from those used by the members of the regular Police Department of the city. Upon the resignation or removal of the Marshal, the uniform and identification symbol or badge shall be immediately delivered up to the city.
   (B)   Lake Marshals shall not carry firearms except with the special permission of and when issued by the Police Chief and when in uniform and while in the performance of their duties.
