§ 72.01 AUTHORITY TO REGULATE PARKING.
   The Department shall have authority to prohibit, regulate, and control the stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles or to prescribe time limits for parking of vehicles on any street or highway under the control and jurisdiction of the city, or for the maintenance of which the city is responsible, in the manner as it shall deem necessary to promote public convenience and safety and so as to facilitate traffic. Any regulations adopted by the Department regarding the stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles upon any specific street, streets, or highways shall become effective on and after the date of the erection of appropriate signs indicating those regulations. Any signs may be erected either by the Department or by a local authority with the approval and direction of the Department.
