9-8-1: DEFINITIONS:
ALARM EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER: Any person, firm or corporation that sells, leases or installs signaling devices which transmit alarms upon receipt of a stimulus from a detection apparatus.
AUTOMATIC PROTECTION DEVICE: An electrically operated instrument which automatically sends a voice alarm over regular public telephone lines upon detection of a fire or unauthorized intrusion.
FALSE ALARM: A visual and/or audible signal transmitted by a signaling device which indicates the existence of an emergency situation when in fact no such emergency situation exists.
PERSON: Any natural person, firm, partnership, association or corporation.
PROTECTED PREMISES: The contiguous area protected by a single alarm system and under common ownership and use.
SIGNAL LINES: A line not connected to any standard telephone equipment which leads into an indicator panel in the communications center of the police department or to such a panel in either a central station protective system or a modified central station and which is designed to transmit electrically an alarm signal readily identifiable as to the location or origin.
SIGNALING DEVICE: An electrically operated instrument which sends, automatically, visual and/or audible signals over a signal line to be registered by indicators at a monitor panel at the receiving terminal. Signaling devices may be one of two (2) types: either a system that transmits a signal directly to the Lisle police department, or a system that transmits a signal to an independent monitoring company.
