9-3-5: UNLAWFUL TO RUN AT LARGE:
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any dog or cat to run at large. For the purposes of this section, any dog or cat not upon the premises of its owner or such other person having custody, possession or control over any such dog or cat, which is not on a leash and under the control of a person physically able to control it, shall be deemed to be running at large.
   (B)   It shall be considered a separate offense for an owner to knowingly allow a dangerous dog to run at large, whereby said action results in injury to a person or animal.
   (C)   Notwithstanding any provision of this chapter to the contrary, any person violating any provision of this section shall be fined in amounts as established by the annual fee ordinance for the first offense, for the second offense, and for each offense after the second offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed during or on which such violation occurs or continues. Dangerous dogs found running at large in violation of this section will be subject to a fine greater than that of nondangerous dogs found in violation, with said fines being set forth in Title 1, Chapter 20, “Fees, Fines, Insurance, Guarantees, and Regulatory Measures”.
   (D)   Any animal illegally running at large in the Village shall be impounded in the animal control center. (Ord. 2018-4801, 12-17-2018; amd. Ord. 2021-4921, 9-20-2021)
