9-2-8: REDEMPTION OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS:
   (A)   An animal impounded under the provisions of this chapter, except for vicious dogs, may be redeemed by the owner within seven (7) days after the impounding thereof upon the payment of the following fees:
      1.   An amount as established by Title 1, Chapter 20, “Fees, Fines, Insurance, Guarantees, and Regulatory Measures” per animal for every day or portion thereof in which the animal is impounded.
      2.   A percentage, as established by Title 1, Chapter 20, “Fees, Fines, Insurance, Guarantees, and Regulatory Measures”, of any and all fees pertaining to service necessary to impound the animal.
      3.   A percentage, as established by Title 1, Chapter 20, “Fees, Fines, Insurance, Guarantees, and Regulatory Measures”, of any and all costs expended in impounding of the animal.
      4.   A percentage, as established by Title 1, Chapter 20, “Fees, Fines, Insurance, Guarantees, and Regulatory Measures”, of any and all fees for medical services for the impounded animal.
      5.   Any fines for violations of any provision of this chapter as established by Title 1, Chapter 20, “Fees, Fines, Insurance, Guarantees, and Regulatory Measures” for each day during or on which such violation occurs or continues.
   (B)   Any impounded dog or cat not inoculated against rabies shall be inoculated prior to redemption.
   (C)   Vicious animals shall be impounded by or turned over immediately to DuPage County Animal Services. (Ord. 2018-4801, 12-17-2018; amd. Ord. 2021-4921, 9-20-2021)
