(A) Duties Of Chief Of Police:
1. The chief of police shall perform all duties as chief of police as set forth in village ordinances, village police department rules and regulations, police department policy and procedure manuals and as directed by the village manager and as from time to time assigned by the village manager. The chief of police shall keep such records and make such reports concerning the activities of the police department as may be required by statute, by village ordinance, by the corporate authorities or by the village manager. The chief of police shall be responsible for the performance by the police department of its functions; all members of the police department both sworn and nonsworn shall serve subject to all orders of the chief of police.
2. The chief of police shall have the custody of all lost, abandoned or stolen property located in the village.
(B) Duties Of Members: It shall be the duty of all members of the police department, subject to all village ordinances, village procedures and policies, police department rules and regulations, police department procedures and policies, board of fire and police commissioners rules and regulations and the board of fire and police commissioners policies and procedures, to enforce all village, county, state and federal laws and to preserve order and prevent violations of law.
