8-4-7: ABATEMENT:
   (A)   The Village shall have the right to abate by cutting, pulling, plowing under, chemically spraying or otherwise destroying any existing noxious weeds, exotic weeds, weeds, turf grasses, annual plants, vegetation, plant growth, and native Illinois prairie grasses which violate the provisions of this chapter. If the Village chooses to abate, the Village shall first serve a notice by certified mail, return receipt requested, and by regular mail upon the owner of record at the address shown on the County tax rolls. Said notice shall:
      1.   Demand the abatement of the nuisance within ten (10) days after the date of mailing; and
      2.   Provide that upon failure to abate the nuisance, the Village may proceed to abate the nuisance at the owner's expense and issue a citation if deemed appropriate.
   (B)   If the nuisance is not abated within ten (10) days after notice has been mailed, the Village may proceed to abate the nuisance, or cause such nuisance to be abated, keeping an account of the expense of abatement, and any such expenses shall be charged to and paid by the owner.
   (C)   Any property owner found to be in violation of this chapter shall receive only one notice in a calendar year. This notice shall serve as notice for subsequent violations in that same calendar year. (Ord. 2018-4797, 11-19-2018)
