8-4-2: DEFINITIONS:
EXOTIC WEED: In accordance with the Illinois Exotic Weeds Act, exotic weeds are plants not native to North America which, when planted either spread vegetatively or naturalize and degrade natural communities, reduce the value of fish and wildlife habitat, or threaten an Illinois endangered or threatened species.
NATIVE ILLINOIS PRAIRIE GRASSES: Illinois native plant species as designated by the United States Department of Agriculture Illinois Natural Resources Conservation Service.
NOXIOUS WEED: In accordance with the Illinois Noxious Weed Law, a noxious weed is any plant which is determined by the Director, the Dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences of the University of Illinois and the Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station at the University of Illinois, to be injurious to public health, crops, livestock, land or other property.
