5-16-2: RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STANDARDS:
   (A)   Applicability
      1.   The residential architectural design standards of this Section apply to the construction of a new principal building containing uses classified in the residential use category, as defined in Chapter 7 of this Ordinance.
         (a)   Exception: Multi-unit buildings, as defined in Chapter 7 of this Ordinance are subject to the nonresidential architectural design standards of this Chapter.
   (B)   Standards
      1.   Architectural Design Elements
         (a)   A minimum of five of the following architectural design elements shall be incorporated in the street facing façade(s) of detached houses, duplexes, townhouses, multi-unit, and group living facilities. Duplexes and townhouses shall contain a minimum of five of the following architectural design elements in the street facing façade(s) of each dwelling unit.
            (1)   Wing walls
            (2)   Balconies
            (3)   Bay or oriel windows
            (4)   Dormers
            (5)   Covered front porch
            (6)   Shutters
            (7)   Columns
            (8)   Cupola
            (9)   Ornamental brackets, trusses, or rafters
            (10)   Arbor / trellis
            (11)   Portico
            (12)   Ornate chimney pots
            (13)   Window planting boxes
            (14)   Decorative gable vents
            (15)   Doorway pediment
            (16)   Stone accents
            (17)   Quoins
            (18)   Brick solider coursing and other similar details
            (19)   Decorative trim boards located at outside corners, inside corners, and at transitions to masonry elements
            (20)   Exterior window molding
            (21)   Similar architectural design elements approved by the Zoning Administrator
         (b)   A minimum of one of the following architectural design elements shall be incorporated in all non-street facing facades. Duplexes and townhouses shall contain a minimum of one of the following architectural design elements in all non-street facing facades of each dwelling unit.
            (1)   Wing walls
            (2)   Balconies
            (3)   Bay or oriel windows
            (4)   Dormers
            (5)   Covered porch
            (6)   Shutters
            (7)   Columns
            (8)   Cupola
            (9)   Ornamental brackets, trusses, or rafters
            (10)   Arbor / trellis
            (11)   Portico

      2.   Building Material
         (a)   Face brick or stone shall be provided on not less than 50% of the exterior wall area, not including windows and doors.
            (1)    Exception. Detached houses
         (b)   Face brick or stone shall encompass not less than 90% of the ground level, not including windows and doors. Ground level shall be defined to be eight feet measured vertically from the adjacent grade.
