§ 38.03 OPERATION OF POLICE DEPARTMENT.
   (A)   Chief of Police to Exercise Control. The Chief of Police shall have full control and direction of all law enforcement activities within the village subject to the approval of the Village Board.
   (B)   Authority of Village Board. The Chief of Police and the Chief’s subordinates shall not receive any instructions, directions or orders from anyone except the Village Board. The members of the Village Board are prohibited from individually issuing any orders, directions or instructions to the Chief of Police or his or her subordinates. The same provision shall prohibit the Village Attorney from giving any directions or orders to the Chief of Police or his or her subordinates except that he or she shall give them such legal advice as shall be requested that he or she render to them at the request of the Chief of Police, the Village President or the Village Board.
