For the purpose of this subchapter the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
LAUNDRY. Any place, building or establishment which is used for the purpose of making, sorting, washing, drying, starching or ironing collars, cuffs, or other wearing apparel, table, bed or other household linens, towels, bedding or other washable fabrics for the general public, including any private laundry maintained or operated in connection with any hotel, restaurant or public institution, except any hospital or charitable institution where no charge is made for laundry services. LAUNDRY does not apply to any female engaged in doing custom laundry work at her home for a regular family trade, nor to any room located in a dwelling in which domestic laundry work is done by or for the occupants of the building exclusively.
DRY CLEANER. Any person keeping or using more than one gallon of any solvent other than water, including but not by way of limitation solvents of the petroleum distillate type, coal tar distillate type or chlorinated hydrocarbon type, for the purpose of cleaning or renovating wearing apparel, fabrics, textiles, drapes, curtains, rugs, blankets, furs, leather or other material for profit.
