1444.10 BUILDING CONTENTS; REMOVAL; STORAGE; DISPOSITION.
If Council orders that a building be demolished, the Superintendent of Public Works shall determine the date for demolition and shall then notify each owner or party in interest thereof in the manner set forth in this chapter. Such notice shall request that the owner or party in interest remove any contents of the building which are of value to him or her.
If, on the date set for demolition, the contents remain in the building which, in the opinion of the Superintendent, are of more than nominal value, the Superintendent shall cause such contents to be removed from the building and stored for not more than ninety days. The owner or party in interest shall be notified that during the period of storage the contents may be claimed upon payment of a reasonable storage fee. Upon expiration of the storage period, the contents shall be considered to be abandoned and may be disposed of by the usual method of disposal of abandoned property. The demolition charges to the owner or party in interest shall then be reduced by any amount the City receives for the sale of the abandoned property, which amount is in excess of the City's expenses for removal and storage of the same.
