(a) The Superintendent of the Building Department, upon proper application, may issue a residential builder's registration certificate to any applicant who qualifies therefor. Such certificate shall authorize the registrant to engage in the business of or to act in the capacity of a residential builder in the City. The Superintendent may issue a residential maintenance and alteration contractor's certificate to any applicant who qualifies therefor, according to his or her qualifications, with respect to any of the following crafts or trades:
(1) Asphalt paving;
(2) Awnings;
(3) Carpentry;
(4) Concrete work;
(5) Excavation and sewer installation;
(6) Fences;
(7) Floor laying;
(8) Garage building;
(9) Insulation work;
(10) Lathing;
(11) Masonry work;
(12) Plastering;
(13) Roofing and siding;
(14) Sheet metal work;
(15) Swimming pools; and
(16) Tile and marble work.
(b) Such registration certificate, when issued, shall specify the particular crafts and trades for which the registrant has qualified. The Builders Registration Commission shall not require any applicant to pay more than one registration fee regardless of the number of crafts and trades for which he or she is registered. Nothing contained in this section shall prohibit a specialty contractor from taking and executing a contract involving the use of two or more crafts if the performance of the work in the crafts or trades, other than in which he or she is registered, is incidental and supplemental to the performance of work in the craft for which the specialty contractor is registered.
