No person shall possess, sell, offer for sale, deliver, distribute, administer, dispense, prescribe or give away any narcotic drug or other controlled substance, as defined in Act 368 of the Public Acts of 1978, as amended (M.C.L.A. 333.7101 et seq.). However, nothing contained in this section shall be deemed to prohibit the possession, sale, offer for sale, delivery, distributing, administering, dispensing or prescribing of any of the drugs or their derivatives mentioned in this section in the manner and under such circumstances provided in this chapter.
