602.02 IMPERSONATING AN OFFICER.
   (a)   Public Place Defined. As used in this section, "public place" means any private property in the City while such property is open to the general public, or any property in the City under public ownership or control.

   (b)   Uniforms. No person shall wear, on the streets, highways, alleys or other public places in the City, any uniform simulating the uniform of the Police Department or a uniform similar thereto unless such uniform has placed at the top of each sleeve, in contrasting colors and in letters not less than one-half inch in height, the words "private police" or words of like designation.

   (c)   Inspections by Chief of Police. The Chief of Police or his or her designated representative is authorized to inspect such uniforms and to approve or disapprove the same.

   (d)   Exceptions. This section shall not apply to private guards, watchmen or police officers who wear uniforms solely on private property or other places of employment and who do not wear such uniforms on any street, highway, alley or other public place, building or structure in the City.
