296.10 SERVICE RETIREMENT.
   (a)   Any member who has attained his or her voluntary retirement age may retire from City service upon his or her written application filed with the Retirement Board setting forth at what time, not less than thirty days nor more than ninety days subsequent to the execution and filing thereof, he or she desires to be retired.
   (b)   Any member who has attained or attains the age of sixty years shall be retired by the Board not later than the first day of the calendar month next following the month in which he or she attains the age of sixty years. However, upon written application of a member, approved by his or her department head, the Board may continue such member in service for a period of time not to extend beyond his or her attainment of the age of sixty-five years.
   (c)   Upon retirement, as provided in this section, a member shall receive an annuity provided for in Section 296.13.
