296.08 MILITARY SERVICE CREDIT.
   If a member, while employed by the City, is called or enlists in the military, naval, marine or other service of the United States government during a time of war, or if he or she is drafted or retained, without action on his or her part, into the service of the United States government during time of peace, and if such member is re-employed as a police officer or firefighter in the service of the City within six months after his or her separation from such government service, or from the date peace was established by treaty, whichever date is earlier, then such service shall be credited to his or her City service in the same manner as if he or she had served the City uninterruptedly. During the period of a member's service in the United States government, his or her contributions to the Annuity Savings Fund shall be suspended, and the balance in such Fund credited to his or her account shall remain in such Fund subject to Section 296.22.
