(a) Any member, except an elected official of the City, who has attained or attains seventy years of age shall be separated from the City service on the first day of the calendar month next following the month in which he or she attains the age of seventy.
(b) If, at the time of his or her separation from service as provided in this section, a member has ten or more years of credited service, he or she shall be retired and shall receive a retirement allowance provided for in Section 294.14.
