294.06 TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP.
Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, if any member separates from the City service for any reason except his or her retirement or death, he or she shall thereupon cease to be a member and his or her credited service shall be forfeited by him or her. If he or she is re-employed by the City, he or she shall again become a member. If his or her re-employment occurs within four years from and after the date he or she last separated from City service, his or her credited service last forfeited by him or her shall be restored to his or her credit, provided he or she returns to the Annuity Savings Fund the amounts he or she may have previously withdrawn therefrom and not returned thereto, together with regular interest from the date of withdrawal to the date of repayment, which sum shall be paid in a single amount within four years of the date of reinstatement. Upon the retirement or death of a member, his or her membership shall terminate. Forfeitures under the defined benefit plan shall not be applied to increase the benefits which any employee would otherwise receive under the retirement system.
