EDITOR'S NOTE: As a result of a 1974 Michigan Supreme Court decision (and a subsequently enacted State statute) municipal pension plans are subject to collective bargaining regardless of whether they are part of the municipal Charter or not. Changes have therefore been made to this Chapter XVIII as a result of collective bargaining, which changes have then been adopted by ordinance of Council. The provisions of this Chapter XVIII, as amended by such ordinances, have been codified in Chapter 294 of the Administration Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City. Reference should be made to such chapter for a final and definitive statement of the law in this area.
