Anything in this chapter to the contrary notwithstanding, it is hereby provided that the step status of any employee who has had five years of service with the City as of the effective date of this section (Ordinance 261-68, passed October 7, 1968), who is not now in Step E and who was promoted during the period from January 1, 1963, to July 1, 1968, shall be recomputed from the date of such employee's last promotion to determine the date of his eligibility for Steps D and E following six and eighteen months of service in the class. Such employees who were promoted during the period from January 1, 1963, to July 1, 1968, and who have not completed at least six months of service in the class shall be placed in Step C until their eligible date is reached.
