244.17   HOURS OF WORK IN CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS.
   (A)   Eight hours per day and 40 hours per week, performed on Monday through Friday, shall constitute a week's work for all employees of the City, except employees of the Fire Department under the platoon system, the Police Department, part-time and seasonal employees and employees on regularly scheduled trick operations. Forty hours per week shall constitute a week's work for members of the Police Department, part-time and seasonal employees and employees on regularly scheduled trick operations, except for members of the Fire Department under the platoon system.
   (B)   When, in the opinion of an appointing authority, it is necessary to change the work days of an employee in order to provide services to residents of the City, the appointing authority may assign an employee to work days other than Monday through Friday, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
