244.031   MATERNITY LEAVE.
   Female employees shall be granted maternity leave beginning no earlier than two months prior to the anticipated delivery date. At the option of the employee, filed in writing with her appointing authority, sick leave, vacation time or a leave without pay, or any combination thereof, may be taken. If the employee elects to utilize sick leave and/or vacation time, the remaining time of any leave shall be taken without pay. Maternity leave shall terminate two months after birth, unless the employee's physician certifies in writing that a longer recovery period is necessary, in which case the leave may be extended not to exceed an additional two months. Any employee who receives maternity leave shall be returned to the position occupied by her prior to the leave, and shall not be treated as a new employee.
