A. Responsibility: The owner of the premises shall maintain the structures and exterior property in compliance with the requirements set forth in this Property Maintenance Code, except as otherwise provided in this Town Code. A person shall not occupy as owner-occupant or permit another person to occupy premises that are not in a sanitary and safe condition and that do not comply with the requirements of this Property Maintenance Code. Occupants of a dwelling unit, rooming unit or housing unit are responsible for keeping it in a clean, sanitary and safe condition those parts of the dwelling unit, rooming unit, housekeeping unit or premises they occupy and control.
B. Vacant Structures and Land: Vacant structures and premises thereof or vacant land shall be maintained in a clean, safe, secure and sanitary condition as provided in this Property Maintenance Code so as to not cause a blighting problem or adversely affect the public health or safety.
C. Maintenance Required: It shall be unlawful for the owner and/or occupant of any building to fail, refuse or neglect to maintain the real estate or building in accordance with the provisions of this Property Maintenance Code. (TO-2022-1, 2-8-2022)
